Blade Runner, Brazil, Highlander, Ladyhawke, Black Tiger, Adventure, William Gibson, Neil Gaiman, Michael Moorcock, Star Wars, Wargames, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam, Voltron... If you know/love/remember fondly all (or at least several) of the items from the list above I think there is a good chance you will enjoy Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (Wikipedia entry) (and the list above is just a teaser - check out the 'Pop culture references in the novel' section of the Wikipedia entry!). The plot is a mashup of components that will be familiar to most science fiction fans - virtual worlds, mysteries to solve, trouble in the real world, adventure - fun stuff for sure, but maybe not enough to hold your interest if you do not have any relationship with (at least some of) the cultural references...
