This novel is more of a fantasy than other Murakami books I have read - I can't help but wonder what it would be like to read this in Japanese, would it be the same experience? The book is split into two parallel stories - for me the "Hard-Boiled Wonderland" chapters were harder to enjoy and connect to, the "End of the World" chapters were more interesting. But even though there were sections of the story that were harder to enjoy the entire novel was imaginative and the ending simply fascinating.
